September 2025 Devotion: The Ultimate Currency

"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." – Ephesians 5:15-16

Reflection: It hit me this morning: we talk a lot about being good stewards of our money, but how often do we consider ourselves stewards of our time? We can track every dollar, but a lifetime of moments can slip through our fingers without a second thought.

But here's a powerful truth: time is the one resource more valuable than any other. You can earn back money, but you can never get back a single second. Time is a gift from God, a finite and precious currency given for a divine purpose. How we spend it is a direct reflection of our gratitude to the Giver.

The Bible warns us not to live "as unwise but as wise." The wise person understands the true value of their days. They "number their days," as the psalmist says in Psalm 90:12, so they can live with a "heart of wisdom." They intentionally make the most of every opportunity.

So, let's stop and ask ourselves:
  • Where am I investing my most valuable resource?
  • Am I living on autopilot, or with purpose?
  • Are the moments I'm giving away truly a reflection of what I value and who I want to be?

Good stewardship of time isn't about being perfectly efficient. It’s about being faithful. It's about prioritizing stillness with God, balancing work with rest, and investing in the relationships and callings that have eternal value. It’s about being present, intentional, and aware that every moment is a chance to honor the God who created it.

Let’s begin today, making a conscious choice to live wisely, turning moments into a masterpiece of purpose.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of this day and every moment in it. Forgive me for the times I have lived without wisdom, allowing precious time to slip away. Teach me to number my days and to make the most of every opportunity. Please help me to be a faithful steward, prioritizing what has eternal value. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
