October 2025 Devotion: Living in the Unknown

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." – Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

Reflection:
Following God often means stepping into the unknown. It’s not always mapped out, and it rarely feels “safe” by the world’s standards. But faith isn’t about knowing the whole plan, it’s about knowing the One who holds it.

Abraham left his home not knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). Peter stepped out of the boat with nothing but a word from Jesus (Matthew 14:29). The disciples followed Christ without a blueprint for tomorrow.

The life lived for God is the life of trust, where uncertainty becomes holy ground. We may not know the details, but we know the Shepherd who leads us. And that’s enough.

When we surrender our need for clarity, we create space for a deeper communion. God never promised us full visibility; He promised His presence. So even when the path is dim, His Word is the lamp that gets us through the next step.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where in your life is God inviting you to trust Him without knowing all the details?
  • How do you respond when you can’t see the full picture?
  • What would it look like to take a step forward with just His Word as your guide?

Prayer:

Father, I confess that I often crave control and clarity more than trust. Help me to live by faith and not by sight. Teach me to find peace in Your presence even when the future feels uncertain. May I rest in the truth that You are guiding every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
