Augustine captured something profound about the journey of faith. Many people assume the path to belief must begin with proof. But throughout Scripture, we often see the opposite pattern.
Trust → reflection → deeper understanding
Rather than:
Doubt → proof → belief
Faith is not the abandonment of reason. It is the willingness to begin the journey with trust, allowing understanding to grow as we walk with God.
Some people come to faith through evidence and study. Others begin with trust and discover understanding along the way. Both roads can lead toward God.
But the deeper question is not which path you start on.
The deeper question is whether you are willing to honestly seek Him.
Jesus gives a promise in Matthew 7:7:
"Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
Seeking God requires humility. It requires honesty about our questions, our doubts, and our hopes. And it requires perseverance—the willingness to keep searching even when clarity takes time.
The person who sincerely seeks God must also be willing to follow truth wherever it leads.
Faith grows when we remain open to being shaped by what we discover.
Over time, trust leads to reflection. Reflection leads to understanding. And understanding deepens our trust even further.
The journey is not about having every answer immediately. It is about continuing to seek the One who promises to be found.

Prayer:
Lord, give me the humility to seek You honestly. Help me trust You even when I do not yet understand everything. Guide my questions, shape my thinking, and lead me deeper into truth. May my search for understanding always bring me closer to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
