By God’s Grace: January 2026 Faith Reflection

"God doesn’t need you. He wants you."

"Take Your Child to Work Day" is a simple picture of love. Children are not invited because their help is essential, but because their presence is desired. Parents find joy in teaching, sharing, and simply being with their children.

In the same way, God invites us into His work not out of need, but out of love.

In Genesis, He speaks creation into existence and then hands stewardship to humanity. But the Creator of the universe isn’t lacking anything. He doesn’t depend on our labor. He delights in our presence.

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything." – Acts 17:24-25

This truth reorders everything:

  • God desires a relationship before productivity.

  • He chooses friendship over performance.

  • He longs to walk with us more than He wants us to work for Him.

This is why rest matters, not as a distraction or laziness, but as an act of trust. True rest is sitting with Jesus, listening for the Father's heart, and simply being loved.

Relaxation, when rooted in love, becomes a declaration:
I am wanted, not just useful.

Reflection:
Today, do something purely for the sake of love and friendship with God. Pause. Pray. Sit quietly. Walk with Him. Not to accomplish, but to abide.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for inviting me into Your work and into Your presence. Help me to release the pressure to perform, and instead rest in the truth that I am loved and desired by You. Teach me to walk with You in joy, not merely work for You out of duty. Amen.
